Are You Tone
Deaf?
with Phil Parker –
7th May RADA, London
How to make your screenplay
funnier, more dramatic or just tragic! With the author of The Art and
Science of Screenwriting.
Phil Parker writes:
“What I will be doing is breaking down the structure and development of feature
films such as Lost in Translation, The Full Monty, Men in Black and Shakespeare
in Love, in terms of their dramatic, comedic, and tragic elements. This will
illustrate how the three main tonal options work at five different levels within
a screenplay and ultimately for an audience. It will explain the difference
between a romantic comedy and a comic romance, and why comedy is not a genre.”
